Yahoo Updates Mobile Search and Rolls Out New Mobile Search Algorithm
Yahoo has updated its mobile search with several important changes — most notably, a new mobile search algorithm. The most important aspect of this update is that Yahoo is specifically focusing on the most recent and latest content.
You might be wondering how this would be any different than the Google News section. Unlike Google that has a separate tab for presenting the most recently published content (as news), Yahoo will present that content in the main search page.
The New Image Search
Yahoo’s new image search section has also seen similar changes. As you can guess that Yahoo is focusing on latest and trending content with this update, these changes can now be witnessed throughout the mobile search experience.
In the Yahoo image search panel, you will see the images you are looking for. But, at the same time, you will be also presented with trending images and contents that you might be interested in.
Integration of Twitter
As you might know that Twitter has a deal with Google to show Tweets in the desktop search results. Now Yahoo also has a Twitter integration that will show popular Tweets in the mobile search results.
However, note that the results will only bring popular tweets from famous celebrities.
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMPs)
As per this latest update, the News content in Yahoo would be fully compatible with the latest AMP technology.
If you do not know what AMP or Accelerated Mobile Pages are, you have to take a look at this. After all, it is being claimed to be hottest new web technology by Google executives.
Final Words
The latest Yahoo update seems an excellent update to move forward with. However, it is currently only available to people in U.S. As of now, there has been no update when it will be available to other countries. Also, there is not a lot of information about the new mobile search algorithm by Yahoo.
We will keep you updated as we learn more about it.
