6 Proven Tools for Content Promotion

February 8, 2016 0 comments

Today, if you want to drive consistent traffic to your blog, you need to promote the content you create. Just writing and publishing blog posts won’t get you anywhere.

What do I mean by promoting the content?

Simply speaking, it means you should be able to find an interested group of people who would appreciate your content and find it useful. Once you have found such people, you also need to get in front of them with your pieces of content.

Otherwise, you will soon find that driving traffic is now harder than ever.

In this post, I list down 6 proven tools that you can use for content promotion.

Ready? Let’s start.

1. BuzzSumo

BuzzSumo is a wonderful tool. It lets you see the most popular posts in your niche. Moreover, it also allows you to see who has shared these posts on their social media profiles.

Find a popular blog post from BuzzSumo that is also relevant to your own post. Click on ‘View Sharers’ to see a list of all those people who have shared that popular post. The next step is to manually reach out to those people (sharers).

Chances are that if they all liked that post, they will also like your blog post.

2. Open Site Explorer

Open site explorer allows you to see all the backlinks that a blog post has generated.

Use the same technique that we used in the earlier tip with BuzzSumo. Find the most popular contents in your niche that are directly to your post. This time, instead of finding the sharers, find the people/websites who have linked to those popular posts.

Reach out to them, share your blog post with them, and see if they can link to your post, too.

3. CrowdFire

CrowdFire is an app (Android, Apple, Web) that is mainly used for growing your Twitter followers. But it is used for much, much more.

You can gain new followers, remove the ones who are not following you, find like-minded people with keywords and hashtags, and a lot more.

The tip is to connect with people who are interested in your niche. Use the ‘keyword follow’ or ‘hashtag follow’ feature to find these people. Once you have connected with them, you can share your blog posts with them.

Moreover, as you grow the list of targeted Twitter followers, you will find content promotion increasingly easier.

4. SumoMe Image Sharer

Most content marketers and bloggers focus on sharing links to their blog posts. They also encourage that other people (their blog readers) also do the same. However, in doing all that, they miss out on another opportunity altogether.

Install the free plugin by SumoMe Image Sharer to open a completely new door of social media sharing. This little plugin allows people to directly share your images on their social media profiles. These are the images that you have shared within your blog posts.

When they share these images, they automatically share the URL of your post, too. This can bring a huge amount of traffic to your website.

5. Quora

Quora is a very popular Q&A website where thousands of people ask questions and provide useful answers.

Once you have a useful blog post to promote, my suggestion is to always go to Quora and see if somebody is asking about the same topic. If you find a question that your blog post can solve, write a nice answer and create a link back to your post.

The traffic that comes from Quora is highly targeted and relevant. This traffic is also more likely to convert into email subscribers and even paying customers.

6. TweetDeck

TweetDeck is a highly popular Twitter tool. It performs a ton of important functions, but, right now, we are interested in three of them:

  • You can schedule to share your content multiple times with TweetDeck.
  • You can also monitor the tweets of your content. If somebody is sharing your content, you can connect with them to grow your Twitter network.
  • Use one of the search columns in TweetDeck to monitor general activity for your main keyword. If a question pops up, you get an opportunity to share your content.

Final Words

Creating great content is very important, but it is not enough.

To be successful, you also need to promote your content as effectively as possible. These 6 tools will help you in your content promotion efforts. Make sure you use most of them.
